Dr Shelby Perram, Registered Osteopath
Shelby is originally from Narrandera, a small country town in rural NSW 1.5 hrs north of the NSW/Vic border. She is excited to be returning to Melbourne after two years working regionally in Albury, NSW. She has completed a double degree in Bachelor of Health Science and Applied Science (Osteopathy) at RMIT University in Melbourne and has further training in level 2 dry needling and myofascial cupping techniques. Shelby will be sharing her time between the Osteopaths of Blackburn and a clinic in Northcote.
Her interest in osteopathy was sparked when her father had success with treatment for a lower back complaint after a long career of shearing. During her studies, she has learnt about anatomy, biology, chemistry, neuroscience, biomechanics, and osteopathic techniques. Shelby enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions in adults including upper back and neck pain, lower back complaints, shoulder, and hip issues. Shelby is also interested in treating women’s health complaints including pre-and post-natal women to help support women in their motherhood journey.
She is passionate about getting to the root cause of her patients’ pain and looking beyond the body to outside lifestyle factors that may also be contributing. Shelby utilises a mixture of osteopathic techniques ranging from gentle joint release, soft tissue massage, dry needling, myofascial cupping, joint manipulations, and muscle energy technique to help with restoring normal joint biomechanics.
On the weekends you’ll find her out and about exploring new sights with her boyfriend, playing AFL, running, and taking care of her large indoor plant collection.
