Communication with your Osteopath
A clear and thorough education from your Osteopath of your complaint is of paramount importance to you and us. We as a clinical group always strive to communicate your examination findings, diagnosis, Osteopathic treatment given and its response. Moving forward the prognosis expected is critical to give you a platform to work off.
As an Osteopath I get very frustrated when I have not changed the clinical picture for a patient no matter how chronic their complaint. Your osteopath will never commit you to a set of series of treatment unless it is helping as we appreciate the value of your time and the funds it takes to get treatment with us.
In the event we cannot help you we will look for other options within the community to move you forward. We work in with so many sectors in the health community. We will give you complete lifestyle advice based on your individual circumstances.
Your Osteopath could give you the best treatment in the world but at the end of the day if we don’t tell you what we have done, why and what to expect, we are simply not doing our job. More than anything we would expect feedback from you to let us know we haven’t achieved those goals. It will help the individual Osteopath and the practice in general to improve.
This also goes towards the appropriate advice moving forward on your lifestyle habits and what negatives we can take out and what positive input can be added in. As an Osteopath nothing gives me greater satisfaction than when your patient makes significant lifestyle changes. It can alleviate their pain and suffering and long term minimize the need of their Osteopath.
If you are sitting there right now reading this article and you feel you never gleamed the amount of info from us that I have talked about above from us, then I simply say that is not good enough. My main tilt in writing this is to urge you to call your Osteopath for a chat. If you are confused about what was done, if you are still in pain or simply have a query please call. This does not have to generate a booking. It is simply for you to know that our team is always ready to be attentive and willing to take part in your health and wellbeing. They will talk to you for as long as you need to get the information you need to move forward. It is simply our duty of care in being your Osteopaths.
The same goes with any interaction you have with our front of house and our lovely reception team. As the practice principal I am very proud of my team but I am sure we can always do better. I love feedback and realistically it is the main way we can improve. Please know I am always ready to respond should you want a chat. You can email me peter@theosteopaths.com.au or call 03 9455 3011 and I will get back to you ASAP.
It is this philosophy that hopefully lets us sit as one of the top Osteopathic and allied health clinics in Australia. I would hope the friendly yet professional atmosphere of our clinics is evident from the time you enter. You as an individual should feel taken care of by everyone you encounter within our clinic. I would love to be told if that is not happening
Simply, we are always here for you and we expect to hear from you if there are any gaps in communication and what you need from us.
Yours Sincerely,
Peter Parker
